Our client was charged with grand larceny, an unclassified felony. Our client, a young unemployed woman, took money in order to pay for prescriptions she had just received after being released from a psychiatric hospital.
The young woman sought representation from the Roanoke criminal defense lawyers at Copenhaver, Ellett & Derrico. We viewed this as a mitigation case, and argued that under the circumstances our client needed help getting her mental state addressed.
The prosecutor agreed to amend our client’s grand larceny charge, and agreed that she would be interviewed for therapeutic court. Upon completion of therapeutic court, her charge would be dismissed.
Case results depend upon a variety of factors unique to each case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any future case.
