Roanoke Reckless Driving Charge Dismissed

A truck driver in his mid-50s was recently charged with reckless driving in Roanoke County General District Court, which is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia. Unfortunately, the truck driver had recently had a rash of traffic charges and was concerned about his ability to maintain his CDL and employment. He hired Copenhaver, Ellett & Derrico to represent him. Allegedly, our client tried to switch lanes and clipped another car, which had two occupants. The car spun out and landed in oncoming, opposite traffic near the truck’s gas tank; ultimately the car was completely totaled.

Attorney Cerid Lugar represented the client in court at one date. Since the car’s occupants were not present at the court date, their statements were considered inadmissible hearsay. Our client’s charges were dismissed.
